This deck is based on the original Rider Waite system but the characters and scenes are expressed in manga-style artwork. I love the limited palette of this deck, but what really draws me in is the sense of movement and activity in every card. It’s a truly magickal deck and I’m sure it will be a powerful translator of the numinous for us today. This card recommends us to focus on maintaining a healthy balance this week. “All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy” reminds us that a lack of balance can negatively affect us & those around us. Temper your work ethic with a relaxation ethic this week to ensure you don’t overdo it! Set aside time for self-care, soul-nourishing creative activities, relaxation or meditation. This deck includes traditional Rider-Waite symbolism but with a modern take – and a lot of the characters depicted remind me of people I know which makes it a great deck for my personal readings, and some of my recent artwork definitely looks like it was inspired by this deck so I’ve been reaching for it more in the last couple of weeks! There’s a lot to draw from in every card and it’s a wonderful deck to use for meditating on the archetypes because it diverges a great deal from the traditional tarot, while still expressing the traditional themes of each card.
