And here, I select a tarot deck each week from my extensive collection to elucidate the ethers, and scry the shifting celestial tides on behalf of the collective. I’ve chosen the This Might Hurt Tarot for our medium today. This deck strongly reflects the Rider-Waite tradition but with some modern characters & contemporary twists. It’s also beautiful quality & that makes working with it an absolute pleasure! I’m drawn to this deck for the quirkiness – it reflects the energy I’m reading really well because of the expressive faces and the use of colour. It’s beautiful and I’m sure it will be a powerful translator of the numinous for us. For me, this is always the card for healing work & self-supporting spiritual practices like journaling, yoga & meditation. Its presence in this position indicates opportunities for deep healing, soul-cleansing & awakening to new realities. But specifically, the Knight of Pentacles reminds us to look to ourselves for solutions & sustenance. Create space for yourself to unwind & fully relax in order to bring yourself back to your body. This deck features the traditional symbolism with a twist: all of the characters featured are crows! It creates some interesting new interpretations of the tarot archetypes. And as a Priestess of the Northern Tradition, I work a great deal with the runes and therefore with Odin, and this deck resonates well when I’m connecting with those energies. This week I’m performing the Yggdrasil Intensive which includes energy transmissions for each of the runes so I’m vibing strongly with those runic currents right now.
